High level experts from academia discuss the contributions in Part Two of the Study on new ideas
related to the implementation of the 2005 UNESCO Convention on the protection and promotion
of the diversity of cultural expressions:

contribution on cultural genocide prevention and on the potential of the UNESCO Convention as
a new instrument for the early prevention of genocide and mass atrocities.

Professor Fiona Macmillan - Birkbeck University of London School of Law
(www.bbk.ac.uk/law/) discusses Christophe Germann’s contribution on the implications of
intellectual property and competition law on the implementation of the UNESCO Convention.

Professor Jan Aart Scholte - University of Warwick (www2.warwick.ac.uk/fac/soc/pais/),
discusses Delia Ferri’s and Christine Larssen’s contributions on the participation of civil
society in the implementation of the UNESCO Convention.
